Wife thought to be Dorcas Pierce/Pearce b.c. 1808

HC3 this is a pdf Tn/Mo/Ks Hoopers -- "Hooper Compass" looks like a newsletter, newspaper March 2000 might be worth reading

Dorcas probably bur in the Sardis Cem, Whitwell, Marion, TN inscription says "wife of Hiram Hooper" has image of several stones there

I’m going to add this information as a note if that’s ok with you Susan Smith, I guess we need other sources right or should I add Dorcus Pierce or Pearce, I don’t have a birth or death date for her. Thanks again for helping

Not a problem. I keep thinking that a lot of the TN folk were originally from NC?

Yeah,  TN formed 01 Jun 1796, initially part of North Carolina and later part of Southwest Territory. So I suggest hunting Hooper in NC ... and that far back in time, pre-1810 for instance (Hiram thot to be born c1801/05) you would be looking for estate papers, probate, wills, slave sales and purchases, other land transfers, militia records, poll taxes and ... etc

1st census would be 1790 NC, which would -- perhaps -- have Hooper in it; 1800 NC/TN, ditto 1810

And of course you HAVE looked at what is over at rootsweb and at familysearch.org, jus to see if there's any clues there

Ok Thanks again
Good question on the DOB/DOD ... the census you provided -- figure that Dorcas is in the 1840 Census and is 30-39 same as Hiram is presumed to be so she'd be born no sooner than 1800 and no later than ... with 2 f ch under 5 and 2 m ch under 5, let's see ... born no later than 1815 for instance ...

You can see how to work the math on this 4 kids in the home from the looks of it, under the age of 5 (looks like) and you might want to double check that ...

Figure Dorcas married no younger than age 14.

what you also need is to find the 1850 census to see if either of them is on it
I believe I seen a census with Dorcas early today it was misspelled I will look now. Thanks

Ps. I also couldn’t find a census 1820 on Hiram so I guess he was with his parents now to find out who his parents was. Thanks again
LOL spelling was very nearly "optional" among the many ... I'd go so far as to say it was optional --  and that many included the "educated" .... makes it soooo much fun ... gradually cleared up over time, specially as Webster's got more dictionaries circulated
LoL I found Durcus on the 1850 census head of house so assuming Hiram Hooper died or left for war, I’m going to add what I Can to Dorcas Hooper’s profile.

Thanks

well, that's good news then, you now have a DOB (more closely measured than in the 1840) for Dorcas.  Hopefully.

Still looking for Hiram Hooper’s parents
