This might be a dumb question with an obvious answer, but here goes

Question

Is there a way to download a list of people that I have a presumed DNA relationship? Would any of these be currently unknown to me? So we have a DNA match but no genealogy connection on Wikitree yet?

I just had an interesting day, when I did not come up as a DNA match for a person that was supposedly my 10th great grandfather. So I traced the line back from the 10th great grandfather and found an error in the 8th generation. So I wondering if the reverse could be done.  I am a DNA match to ? and I research them and discover the connection.

Sorry but wikitree does not do DNA matches like the other places do.

The genealogical connections must be in place first before Wikitree can show you potential DNA relatives.

Also 10th generation ancestor is too far removed for a DNA connection. The DNA connections only go back to around the 8th generation.

As long as you have this 10th generation ancestor, as a common ancestor, and the genealogical connection is there, then the relationship finder can make the connection.

The value of WikiTree when it comes to DNA is that it shows you who you might have a match with, based on your tree.  Then it is up to you to investigate the match.  That is the opposite of the DNA testing sites, that show you who you match, but don't tell you how, although, increasingly, they are suggesting how you might be related--sometimes right, sometimes wrong; still needs investigation.

@Susan, there is no such thing is a dumb question. Speaking of presumed DNA relationships.  I had a couple of unknown people, same surname(s), that appeared on my PRIVATE PROFILES that were LOCKED and decided to "camp" onto my trees.  Spent time researching and clearly they were not suppose to be listed on my profiles. One had the same name as my cousin.  Go figure.

WikiTree, I suggest profiles have a pre-approved DNA check-box.
