Ruffin was the Govenor of Louisiana, served in the Spanish American War in 1898 as a Lt. Col. with the 1st Louisiana Regiment Infantry. He was captain of the 1st LSU football team against Tulane in 1893. He also studied law.

Am finding lots of interesting info on some of my ancestors. Interesting that Ruffin played for LSU on their 1st football team!
