Hi, I found a person in wikitree with no descendants. Kane-91. In my private gedcom she has 850 descendants, including myself. If I generate a gedcom of just her descendants, can I upload to wikitree? Or do I have to type it all in manyally?

I have already used GEDCOMpare but found no more good matches than Kane-91.

Thanks. :)

If you decide to upload people by way of GedCom, please do it in small batches. You do not want to upload a GedCom of 850 people - it will seem endless getting them all compared and accepting or rejecting each one. And, importing profiles with a GedCom results in having to clean up the biographies as the sources and information does not import like it appears on your records. We have a lot of profiles on WikiTree still sporting "GedCom Junk"!

Like Kay said, if you add a few profiles manually, you might find that some of them will connect to profiles already here which will prevent you from having to add their family. If not, just create smaller GedComs, clear each one as you go and it will not take as long as you might think - and your profiles will appear clean and ready to be viewed or added to by others.

Others who have had more experience importing a GEDCOM will probably have more comments, but I tried a very small (3 person) GEDCOM and found it much more work to revise the created profiles than to create them manually.

I would suggest that you manually create your grandparents and great grandparents, with sources. You could then try a very small GEDCOM and see which is easier.

If you enter manually, you may find some surprising connections, and cousins to collaborate with.
