This is a plat map of Noble Township, Noble co., Indiana from 1874. My maternal grandfather's parents were both born in this area, and many of the parcels on the map belong to people related to me.
Parcels owned by people that I know are relatives, I outlined with colors, using different colors for different family names. They are not all direct ancestors, some are brothers or sisters of direct ancestors.
I prepared this map when I was typing up a portion of my great-great grandfather's (Peter Winebrenner's) diary, written while my great-grandmother had come home from Kansas for a visit. He took her around to visit relatives. However, the diary gave the peoples' names, but didn't give the relationships, and he used the married names of female relatives. This visit was back in 1897, and my family's oral history that I was taught as a child did not include them, and I had no idea who they were. It took me months of research to find out that all these people that they went to visit were all relatives, and what the relationships were. They included my great-grandmother's sisters and brothers, cousins, and 2nd cousins. She also visited some of her husband's relatives, though he did not accompany her on the trip. Anyway, I used it as an illustration, to help my brother and cousins and their kids understand who these people were, and where they lived.
