Marriages/Wives of George Rayment/Raymond (1578-1651), father of 3 immigrants to New England

The second wife of George Rayment (a.k.a. Raymond) was Mary.  He is often shown as married to Mary Shell on 11 January  1614.

However, there are two problems:  George's first wife Joan was buried in 1618 (well after 1614).  And secondly, I could no find primary source for such a marriage on 11 January 1614 to Mary Shell or anyone else.

So should his second wife be Mary Shell or Mary Unknown?  And were they really married in 1614 (or after April 1618 when the first wife was buried)?

Thank you for your attention to these profiles, Kenneth.

Some update news regarding your post,

  1. The only record so far identified about George's first wife is a St. John's, Glastonbury burial record. A review of that parish record suggests her given name was not Joan. Perhaps it is Jo[h]an[a], but the review continues.
  2. In the parish register work completed so far, we have found no other reference to the name of any other woman married to George, this includes that there is no reference to a wife "Abigail Morris or Maurice" or "Abigail _____," or _____ Morris or Maurice."
  3. George's association with a wife "Mary Shell" or "Mary ____" has been severed.

The above webpage cites sources including his last Will.

It mentions 2 wives, a Joan and an Abigail Maurice=Morris.

As to family relations, George's will mentions his children, no wife's name is given.

This George Raymond or Rayment lived in Glastonbury, Somerset, England.

Mary Shell married a different George Raymond and they lived in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
