Surname conflict, how to resolve

Fountain vs LaFountain

I have added a note to top of this first profile.

I have previously reached out to other profile manager but received no response.

I at least added a note re this conflict to my version of the profile and tried to add a note to the other but don't have access.

Does someone have LDS access to Keeseville records to locate the birth record?

then there's the issue of her Significant accomplishments

You have the marriage source attached that has Lafountain, with no capitalization in the middle.  The other PM has not been active for years, but the other profile has no sources, so you are probably fine and will need to wait the default 30 days for it to be approved.  Mother and sister are probably duplicates, which you have merges proposed for already, which is correct.

I would attach the other profile for the father, adding a Research Note to the profile about possible surname discrepancy, adding a comment to the profile, sending a message to the PM, and asking to be on the Trusted List of that profile, requesting the name be changed to Lafountain with sources you can find.  If no response, you can file the Unresponsive Profile Manager form for that PM and hopefully, it will be orphaned and you can change his name on the profile.

Need to add sources to father to determine surname since that record also has no sources.  Hope this helps.

The image of Jessie's marriage record actually has the spelling as either LaFountain or La Fountain:

i agree there is capitalization in the Marriage source image.

I have added Frank Fountain-714 as father of Jessie since he is the 'profile' that is linked to his mother. I added the 'La Fountain' as an Other Last Name.

I found 1870 census in Plattsburgh, NY for Frank and 'Ellen' / Helen, living with Frank's parents, siblings, and paternal grandparents.

It looks like his father, Joseph Quintal-126, changed his name, as did one other sibling, to his mother Marian's 2nd husband, Jean-Baptiste Fontaine, at some time.  Information is in profile of this person in the 'Bio from a New York ancestor', stating he used Fontaine.  These are the grandparents in the 1870 census.  I have added that information to Joseph's profile, also.

1850, 1860, and 1880 Census for his parents Joseph and Julia have Fountain, only the 1870 had 'La Fountain'.  The 1880 census family list looks like Emma, Frank and Helene's oldest child, may be

Based on that information, it looks like Fountain was used as the 'family' name most of the time, and definitely at the time of his birth.  The other problem is that Frank's name in 1850, 1860 and 1870 census is different, ie Leon, Levi and Frank, based on the age of that child.
