Could MacDonald family double check that one?

I stumbled yesterday upon Allan Ranald MacDonald (1800-1842). I have good reasons to believe he is the father of Leïla Flora MacDonald, who married in 1863 in Paris, France with François Certain Canrobert, Maréchal de France.

The profile of Allan was already in WikiTree, a bit sketchy, but with secondary sources which seem in good accordance with the marriage record of his daughter. But I don't know how reliable the secondary source (The Douglas Archives) is.

If someone familiar with / related to MacDonald clan could double check this, it would be great. Missing details for the birth place and marriage would be welcome also.

Allan was Captain Major in British Army in India, his daughter was born there and he died there, so it can make the things a bit tricky.

Find My Past has images of the British India Office Births & Baptisms, Marriages & Deaths & Burials.

I have located the baptism entry for Lila Flora Macdonald on 17 Nov 1838 at Sultanpore. Parents are listed as A. R. Macdonald, 4th Reg. N.I. Capt'n Major of Brigade Auxiliary Force & Eliza Ann his wife.

The marriage entry of Lila's parents on 7 Oct 1835 at Sangor: Allen Ronald Macdonald, age 35, Captain / Bachelor / Sangor & Anne Eliza Smith, age 16, Spinster / Sangor.

I am happy to send copies of the images if you would like to send a PM.

Thanks Vivian, that's great!

I'll follow up through "PM" ... at first reading, I thought that meant Profile Manager, and I was about to answer that this profile was orphan. laugh Context is treacherous.wink

I wasn't sure if you were aware of this, but did you notice that the individual your inquiring about is an "orphaned" profile?

If your a decent of that individual/profile, you can always adopt this profile as a profile manager and you will then be able to maintain that profile as the responsible individual for this profile.

If you want to adopt that profile, you just need to select the "[adopt this profile]" link located beneath the death information (below the death date and location).

Good Luck! :-)

Brian, thanks for the hint. I was aware that this profile is orphan, and I know how to adopt one (did it already for a handful of profiles) but, #1 I have already too many profiles on my watchlist and, #2 given the size of the MacDonald clan, I thought it would be easy to find someone in the family who would care.wink

And if I ask it's mostly that, being French, I'm not very familiar with Scotland sources, let alone British East Indies.

But if no one steps forward, I would gladly adopt a grandson of the Flora MacDonald, in souvenir of the Isle Of Skye, a place I really love (as a coincidence, the image I've chosen for my profile was taken there, years ago).

To be complete : I'm not a descendant, this is a branch of the family of a remote cousin of my wife.
