Origins of Auria (Aurea, Awriya) the wife of Fortun Garces?

Hello EuroAristos and DFA denizens,

Please see our profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Muza-1 and the public comments I left on it, and other members of the extended family group(s) in this vicinity.

Requesting we change the LNAB for this person to Unknown. There is no proof she is the descendant of Musa (ibn Musa). Settipani gives three plausible alternatives each compliant with the primary sources (which leave holes that can only be filled with logic, conjecture or non-genealogical assertion); and also refutes the fictional descent via Loup/Lubb which I believe we are cribbing (unsourced) from Perez de Urbel.

It would be great if somebody with the Pre-1500 credential could re-write and re-connect this family to match one of Settipani's proposals.

The first proposal is probably least controversial, as preserves the notional Muslim descent from Musa (which is not impossible) via an intermediate Aurea (sister of Loup in lieu of daughter); we whereas the second and third delete the Banu Qasi origin entirely, in favor of paternity of Garcia 'the Bad' or Galindo of Aragon, respectively.

Note Settipani's closing comment in support of the latter option, that double-marriages were not uncommon in these Navarrese families; and that his third proposal gives the direct-est descent from the earliest woman of this name. All three require conjecture. Therefore, it seems unlikely we will ever know. But we can already know that what we're publishing today is unsupported by history.

That said, I haven't seen any of the primary sources with my own eyes, and am viewing even Settipani through mere college French. Can anybody do better?

Thanks in advance for your time and effort on this profile, which so many of us share as a common, enigmatic ancestor.

I will just add to my own comment, that after many years of mapping out this family, up/down/over/back every which way... I find that it is difficult to add dates to any one of the many people sharing same names, unless they are ALL included in the tree/chart. So you can keep them straight. We are missing a bunch of these folks now, I think. So, it's not surprising we've conflate-merged non-duplicate relatives. That will keep happening until our connections "graph" is roughly as comprehensive as those drawn by Settipani.
Speaking personally, I'm reluctant to create new pre-1500 profiles, when as I know and you and others regularly point out, there are so many issues with existing profiles from that time period.

If no one gets there first I'll have a look at this profile when I can, but that will probably be after Christmas, when I have some time off work.
