I am 20 degrees of separation from Princess Leia Organa AKA the late Carrie Fisher through her late mother, the fabulous Debbie Reynolds. I visited her casino in Las Vegas.
I am 27 degrees of separation from Chewbacca AKA Peter Mayhew through his wife.
When I saw the original movie Star Wars, I fantasized that I would win the heart of Princess Leia, thus becoming only one degree of separation from her. The Unsinkable Molly Brown AKA Debbie Reynolds played the real life Molly Brown, who lived on Pennsylvania St., a mile from me. Her house is now a museum. I never thought that Carrie's father Eddie Fisher should have left Debbie Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor.
My connection to Peter Mayhew is through Rev. Charles Curry of Key West. I think this was the same Rev. Curry that christened many of my relatives at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where I was christened.
I used to have a life size cardboard cutout of Chewbacca that I got at Tower Records.
I am 25 degrees of separation from Obi Wan Kenobi AKA Alec Guinness. He also starred in the film The Man in the White Suit, which was very loosely based on the life of Alan Turing, codebreaker, another of my distant cousins. My favorite film of Alec Guinness was Kind Hearts and Coronets, in which he played multiple roles, both male and female. This movie might be apropos of genealogy research, i.e. kindness is more important than noble blood, or good looks. But I like to think that I have all three. lol.
