Trying to find out if my great grandfather, Reese Burk/Burke/Burts, also known as Robert Carter Burtz, is related to George Butler Burtz that lived in the Sandy Plains/Shallowford Road area of Georgia.  George's wife was named Cora (Garrison) Burtz.  Robert (or Reese) owned land next to George, but I do not know if they were brothers, father and son, or uncle and nephew.  Can anyone help?

Hello JoAnn: Thank you for your work on WikiTree and for asking your question here on G2G.

All I've been able to find for comparison comes from the 1910 FEderal Census for Cobb County, Georgia.  These are copied below for your use.  Also, looking at the pages, there are three Burtz families in close proximity.  Often times enumerators got bits of information wrong and transcribers of Census data are also imperfect in their efforts (aren't we all...).

What I saw, looking at those pages, was that Robert C. Burtz was the first of the Burtzes enumerated, and his place of birth is given as South Carolina which is also given for his father and mother. Also, it seems he was born in about 1856 ot 1857 from that record. His older brother(?),George B. was born in Georgia, but his mother and father were born in South Carolina.

As for Reese Burk - I found nothing in those FamilySearch.org attempts.

Perhaps someone else can do a better or more detailed search.  Good luck in your efforts! yes
