Adding a GEDCOM file as an extension to an existing profile

Question

I have added to the Trusted List for a John Quillin. Currently there is nothing for the descendants of this John Quillin and Mary UNK. I have an extensive file of several generations (1,584 individuals) for one son, Thomas Quillin, my 5G Grandfather.

Is it possible to add a GEDCOM file? It would be extemely difficult and time consuming to try and add what I have manually.

I have read he questions on this subject and am not sure my specific case has been answered. Also, I would need instructions if it can be done.

Keith did a great job of answering your question. I'll just add that once you've gone through the GEDCOM process and it's been imported into WikiTree, you would need to add the profile created for Thomas Quillin as the son of John Quillin and then your informatoin would be connected to the tree.  If you have any questions along the way, let me know. James, thank you for joining WikiTree and your willingness to contribute your family's information there.

I'm no expert on Gedcoms, but my take on your question is merely to follow the instructions for Gedcoms here.  If you follow all the instructions and give the system a little bit of time (up to about 72 hours), it will attach all the added (unskipped) persons to the WikiTree where they belong.  Please be careful to skip duplicates.

Meanwhile, two more thoughts: 1) The WikiTree elf of Gedcoms (Eowyn by name) will likely be along tomorrow to help you with this and; 2) thank you for asking your question on G2G
