General Robert Manners is reputed to have been Godfather to Charles Childs

102 views was mistress to two Generals - Robert Manners and Charles Asgill.  By the former she had 6 children and the latter she had 1 = Charles Childs.  I have been told that Robert Manners was godfather to the son of Charles Asgill (Charles Childs).  Since this was such an unusual relationship of 3 people it seems unlikely to me. Does anyone know how I can find the truth of the matter? It would put a whole new 'spin' on the story if I knew!  Incidentally, in his will, Charles Asgill left his black mare and saddle to the child of Robert Manners = Herbert Mansel, so maybe it really was a ménage à trois? Can anyone help me to find the truth?

Is there a WikiTree profile for any of these people that you could link to?
The link I gave for Mary Ann Mansel at the top of my post links to both Manners and Asgill.

I found the profile you created for Robert Manners, and I linked to it in your question.
