Once a merge is proposed, it can either happen the same day - or the default is 30 days.  It depends on whether the profile managers are online, whether there are sources to back up the merge...

Take a look at this page and its surrounding pages:

I have pending merges on my list that I proposed in 2018. Due to privacy settings on the second profile, I can't push the mergers through after 30 days. It often feels like they will never happen, but I guess there is always the 150 year rule (compulsory 'open' profiles 150 years after birth).

Clare, there are a few possible ways to deal with the situation.

  • You can try writing to the manager of the other profile and, if they don't respond, follow the unresponsive manager process.  If you do that, make sure to explain that you are manager of a profile waiting to be merged with it, otherwise if they declare the other manager unresponsive, the normal thing would be to delete any private profiles he/she manages.
  • You can write to info @ wikitree.com (without spaces) and ask them to complete the merge.
