Do you want to become an England Project member in 2020? [closed]

The England Project is an exciting place to be at the moment! We have a few hundred active members improving and creating English Profiles. We have a strong sense of community and teamwork, and a great structure so members both new and old work in their areas of interest. We connect, source, and improve bios within our Counties. We correct data errors, improve old Gedcom profiles, and encourage ONS and OPS studies, among many other things! Does this sound like something you would like to be part of?

You will begin with our unique Orphan Trail (read about it here), which is the gateway into the project. The Trail has a two fold benefit: it improves the health of our tree and, if you need it, helps you with profile formatting and/or using some quirky English sources!

Not only is England an exciting project to be a part of, but our Orphan Trail is a fun way to join the project! And once you have finished the Trail, you will be able to join any of our other teams, and make connections with members who share your own interests.

If you are interested in joining us this year, please ANSWER below this post (not comment, or we may miss you!). I will respond with joining instructions and get you into our England Project Google Group, which is how we all communicate. Once you’re on board, we will let you know how to start your Trail.

Every improvement to every English Profile benefits our Global Tree, and we look forward to having you on the Project!

Yes, I want to join.  My DNA estimates my ethnicity is 50% from England, Wales & Northwestern Europe (Primarily located in: Belgium, Channel Islands England and Wales).  So, I would enjoy being able to participate.

Dear Fran,

I am interested in joining the England Project.  My ancestors took their name from a den in Kent, so I am particularly interested in assisting with the Kent County part of the project.

Thank you.

I would like to join the England Project.  All my ancestors are from England, so I would like to learn all I can by working on this project.  I am retired and have time and energy to spare, and found that I love genealogy studies!

Thanks!

Hi Sharon,

In order to join a project, you must be a full member who has signed the honor code. Following this link will show you how (under "How to Volunteer") :

Let me know once you've done that, and I will send you joining instructions.

I am Jon Stubley [Stubley-98]. I have spent many years trying to trace my ancestors back through Lincolnshire parish records loaned in microfiche from the Lincolnshire Family History Society, but the families were often based in the extreme south of the county and moved across borders with Rutland, Huntingdonshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire - which makes everything much more difficult. Fortunately, Northamptonshire parish records are now online, but were not when I started (in fact very little was online back then).

I need to be as precise as possible with sources if I am going to add these ancestors to Wikitree; but I fear that I may not have access to such precision, having relied for many years on the assumption that Familysearch.org transcriptions are correct.

I have looked through the projects on the Lincolnshire option, but Threekingham (where my earliest reliable ancestor Ambrose Stubley and his wife Elisabeth Shippe both b~1569 were from) is missing.

I do not want to add anything to the main tree without authorisation from those who might be operating in this area of of the UK.

Hello! I'd love to join the England Project and eventually the Devon county team. A recent Y-DNA match is indicating that my paternal line is a part of the Bulley family that has had roots in Devon since at least the mid-1600s. I also have a huge interest in my Uncles line, which came from Wiltshire to the U.S. around 1812.

I'd like to join the project, as my family hasn't travelled far.

Earliest ancestor found 1520, and only 10 miles from where I live now.
