Parentage of Isaac Outrim, born c 1660, probably in Surrey or Kent, England?

Isaac Outram/Outrem/Outerham married Catherine Roweb/Rowil/Rowed in Westerham, Kent, England in 1685.  They settled in Limpsfield, Surrey and had at least 10 children there.

They were buried in Limpsfield Churchyard, Catherine's headstone dated 1730 gives her age as 70, putting her birth at about 1660, so Isaac's estimated birth year would be about 1660 or a little earlier.

Several online trees have gone beyond Isaac, giving roots in Derbyshire, as does his line on Wikitree.  None of them give any sources for this information.  Chesterfield, Derbyshire and Limpsfield, Surrey are some 184 miles apart, not an impossible journey, but perhaps unlikely.

I have suggested breaking the link between Isaac and his 'parents', but adding a link in the biography to them (I have already put the link in).  Profile manager is reluctant to unlink Isaac from his parents.

I have added the information and sources to the profile, there were none there initially.

Has anyone any ideas as how to proceed?

Hi Margaret,

It may take a search of the Old Parish registers through the counties you have mentioned to possibly find the records.

Billy, Thanks for that.

Some years ago I looked at the PRs for Limpsfield, Surrey on microfilm, now they are readily available online.  Isaac Outram was my 7G grandfather, my Steer roots are from Limpsfield as well.

I have found no baptism for Isaac, son of Thomas and Ann Outram in Limpsfield PRs, and no online transcription of a baptism in surrounding parishes.  One of the online trees gives an unsourced baptism in Westerham, Kent, not far away and very plausible as a location for his birth, but I cannot find this record.  I am not saying that it is not there, waiting to be found.

Some have Thomas and Ann marrying in Westerham, others in Limpsfield (again no sources for either, not found in Limpsfield PRs).  Thomas apparently was buried in Chesterfield, according to some trees, others have him buried in Limpsfield (no record found of the latter in Limpsfield PRs).

It is the unsourced connection to Chesterfield, Derbyshire, which I am doubtful of.  If I track an Outram family through the PRs in Derbyshire, I can't see that it gives credence to an Outram family in Surrey, nearly 200 miles away.  It might be correct, but with lack of supporting evidence, I don't think that it should be presented as fact.

Hi Margaret,

I did a bit of searching on the Limpsfield Parsih Council web site and noticed that they had moved their archives, see the following link for the information on their parish registers. You need to click on the Parish Registers link to see the full article on them.
