Question about Harriet Turner (Holcombe) Mann

+3 votes
I am a descendant from the relationship that Harriet Turner Holcombe (Mann) had after her husband John Mann's death.  The relationship with Henry Ward bore seven children all given the surname Mann by Harriet.

How does this get displayed in a family tree as there was no common law marriage but the relationship lasted 13 years until Henry died.

Donna, I am curious about the question. I understand that in this period each province had its own marriage laws. So, in this era NSW had no common law marriage?
Genetically they are not Manns, they are Wards. I imagine the assumption people are married or get married when a child is produced, the assumption of gender etc will be all out the window if it is not already. Today's genetic family will be  boiled out to say - DNA contributor A, DNA contributor B - instead of mother or father.. This program is not as flexible or user friendly as other ones out there.

So it seems there may be a glitch in the system that would work in your favor in this circumstance. Read these two g2g threads makes me think you can attach a spouse and then intentionally select an 'unmarried' radio button and the unmarried would display (if I understand your question correctly).
