You know what? Just because there is no official weekend chat. That doesn't mean we can't exchange friendly greetings. Maybe a tale of lighthearted silliness.

I may just put on my skippers. Grab a newspaper. Sip my coffee. Make a robot fly me across the galaxy at FTL speed. Drop by the home of Chris. Play with some transformers. Read some Archie comics. Play a little bit of Soul Caliber. Eat some lasagne. Then go to Pip's. Check out his kilt. Examine his tree trimming tools. Pass wind. Maybe move a shrubbery. Then head home. Of course I wouldn't leave until I have sampled his food stufffs.

Seriously though. Have fun with the Scan-a-thon

Pip, I must be hungry. (UH, it's after traditional lunch time here in AZ, but I didn't notice that.) I'd do something if I got a meal or two (made by a gift-horse, to order; with a serving of any kind of meat or fish that would appear on a menu; with any handy accoutrement that is in the realm of cuisine. No kidding.

If I make that statement, I must be "self-interested, bored, & aging," SO:  just forget that I said that please.

I could go for some carnitas, arroz con pollo, maybe an asada steak, and definitely more carnitas.  I can do the labor of four people. As well as eat for four people. I forgot appetizers. If I bring my laborers. You will hear some Drill Sergeant speak.

We had winds gusting up to 110 km/h last night. That pushed the water to this end of the lake, and the water came up and over the lake wall (which still hasn't been fixed after all the damage from the "ice shove" last winter and storms over the summer). At one point, parts of Dominion Road/Lakeshore Road were closed, and we can still see the "high tide" line where all the debris washed up over the road.

I must remember to call the lumberyard and order up a few truckloads of gopher wood.

Just as well for me... I'm a bit distracted this weekend!  Among other things, my paternal aunt's Ancestry results came in, and she gave me permission to upload to FTDNA, MYHeritage, and GEDMatch.  Then my mom's first cousin.  Same thing.  Later that afternoon, 23andMe results arrived for me and my mom, and last night I discovered that my husband's uncle's Ancestry results popped up.  I've kind of got my hands full!

Is this work you can now do a great, long upload? I'd love to see it. 

I don't think my father's ancestry would give me anything new, but if so only on his mother's father's side. That's good enough, I think, but on his mother's mother's side I might be able to rustle some information from just focusing on it. 

How do we get into the deep ancestry of our parent's ancestors? Or is the process a simple one-after-the-other ancestor on both sides of an individual's family members ---Into PERPETUITY?

I've already been able to use my mom's results and my paternal uncle's results combined with a lot of traditional research to do DNA confirmation back ~4-5 generations (3C matches to my mom or uncle) on nearly all lines.  Mom's cousin and my other aunts and uncles should have matches that my mom and uncle don't have.  I'm hoping the additional information will help me connect the dots for a couple of brick walls where the paper trail appears to end.  So far I've already found a set of matches that appear to push one line back another generation, though I need to firm up the paper trail.  Chipping away at it one generation at a time appears to be the best way to do it, just like with traditional genealogy.
