Greeters shared their favorite unusual place names this month. Since we're an international Gang, some of the names were familiar while others sent us scrambling for maps. At least one place name, "Come by Chance," got added to a Gang member's bucket list.

That badged members of the Greeters Project work on seven teams?
- Greeters Schedule Team (25) - Set day and time schedule, at least one hour per week
- Floater Team (?) - Unscheduled - they jump in to cover when scheduled team members are unavailable
- Two Week Team (6) - Set day schedule and posts a message to every Volunteer on their fourteen day volunteer anniversary
- Honor Code Team (6) - Set day schedule and review new Honor Code signers, offering tips and suggestions as appropriate
- Pre-1700 Team (5) - Set day schedule and review new Pre-1700 certified members, offering project suggestions
- Merge Feed Team (3) - Set day schedule and review merged profiles for living people, offering privacy information, tips, and suggestions as appropriate
- Off-Cycle Team (4) - Unscheduled and post messages for new members who were out of sequence for the Two Week Team
Lots of statistics are being followed regarding the Greeter Project and here are December stats.
- 2 Week Team left 2,625 messages
- Pre-1700 Team left 227 messages
- Honor Code Team reviewed 1,638 profiles and left 277 messages
- Merge Feed Team left 182 messages
- Off-Cycle Team left 252 messages

Greeters welcome new Guests and confirm Volunteers for full membership while we simultaneously protect our members from spammers. We also answer questions from our guests and new members and make sure they get the help they need to have a successful start on WikiTree.
A Greeter is ...
- ...a full member, at least 18 years old, who joined WikiTree more than one month ago.
- ...a Wiki Genealogist who has signed the Honor Code and has made over 100 non-GEDCOM contributions.
- ...a special volunteer who is able to communicate with guests and new members in a friendly, helpful manner.
- ...able to edit a profile, post messages, and use email.
- ...someone who has a good understanding of WikiTree principles and procedures or knows where to find the answers.
