Advice before editing this pre-1700 Gilliam profile?

I have imported a GEDCOM file, and one individual in my file matches William Gilliam (Gilliam-44).  That person is I66 in my GEDCOM file.

I am not editing the bio data, but simply wish to match my individual to the existing Gilliam-44, but I can't seem to complete this because I am asked to "save changes", and I the save changes button is 'greyed out' until I "ask for advice".

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Thanks,

Ray James

Presumably it's greyed out until you edit something.

The Adding and Editing is the actual importing.  If you don't edit, nothing is imported.  Your gedcom doesn't get coupled to the tree.  Nothing in it is visible to anybody else except what is transferred over by Adding and Editing.

So if you don't want to change the existing profile, fine, but then there isn't anything you need to do.
