Category question - civilian internees died in captivity

You'll be getting sick of questions about categories for folks who died on the "Montevideo Maru" during WW2, but here's another one ...

There were a couple of hundred civilian internees on the
"Montevideo Maru" when it was sunk (all with profiles) as well as 800 military. I'm thinking they should have a different but similar category to "Died while Prisoner of War, Australia, World War II". In the eyes of the Australian government at least there was a significant difference between a civilian internee & a POW. Maybe "Died while a Civilian Internee, Australia, World War II"?

About 2 dozen of the civilians weren't even loosely Australians (Norwegians, Swedes & a Lithuanian) - is the category title broad enough to incorporate them?

Just FYI, those "died while prisoner of war" categories are part of the Roll of Honor, which is used solely for military personnel.  In order to avoid confusion, it's not a good idea to name that closely to the RoH categories.

I think the event of the sinking should fall under [[Category:Maritime Disasters]] and [[Category:Military Disasters]]

EDIT: Apparently it already does fall under those parent categories.

Doesn't the ship's inclusion in the Worldwide DIsasters project sort of cover the deaths already? I mean, the main category [[Category:Montevideo Maru]] could be renamed to something like [[Category:SS Montevideo Maru Sinking]] or [[Category:SS Montevideo Maru Disaster]] in order to make that clear in the categories. The fact that the persons died aboard should be mentioned in each of the profiles.

Natalie - all the profiles mention in the narrative that they died in the sinking (I think - there may be 1 or 2 added by others that don't, but the bulk of them have been done by me).

Re the Roll of Honour categories - the reason I ask is that I've seen profiles with stickers/categories for "Killed in Action" on 1 soldier & "Died While a Prisoner of War" on 1 civilian. Clearly, there is some confusion out there.

Definition of a POW.

A prisoner of war (POW) is a non-combatant—whether a military member, an irregular military fighter, or a civilian—who is held captive by a belligerent power during or immediately after an armed conflict.

The Geneva Convention was updated in 1949 to cover civilians. I gather the earlier (1929) version didn't cover them.
