I have had a DNA on my adopted son and also a Y_DNA still no closer to who his father is? What to do?

Consider adding the dna tag and adoption_angels tag to this G2G post to make sure the right people see it.

What company did you use for the DNA test?  Are you familiar with how to review his matches?

For the Y-DNA test, does he have any matches?  If so, do they have a common surname?

It is not unusual to not get a good Y-DNA match; I've done the Big-Y at FTDNA and don't have a match within about 3,000 years! But if you've also had an auDNA test done then you should have at least some matches. The standard first recommendation is to copy your results to genesis.gedmatch.com so that you get the widest pool to match against. We all know stories of people who have had success; I don't know if there are any estimates of the number of people who have tried without success, so it's hard to know what you can expect. But as more people test, the better the chances will become.

Agreed, had my father do a Y-DNA test and do not have any matches that are closer than over 1,000 years old and most are more distant.  Strongly recommend an Ancestry test.
