I am a 61 year old stepmother of four, who just found out that I was adopted by my family. My Mother was Kathleen Florence Sawyer and was a widow at age 33, she met my biological father and gave birth to me in November 1958. We do not know if he , John Keenan, was aware of the pregnancy but I was adopted out in a closed adoption to John and Catherine Alvarez of Yonkers, New York. I never knew of this until both my Mom and Dad died at 98 and 96 years old and pursued dna testing. My biological nephew, Sean Simpson had done testing and he turned up as a first or second cousin or nephew. Through some research and help from Linda Johnston of DNA detectives , I found most of the rest of my story. I think, because of DNA tests with his neice, my biological father was John Edward Keenan, who did marry, an Ann EvelynPetrusky, but had no children from that relationship, but was in the Air Corp at conception, most probably at Dixon Air Force base in Tampa. I have, in the past year met all of my living half siblings, Frankie, Diane, Janet, Michael, Stewart, and Lyman. They are a wonderful family and have welcomed me after 60 years as if I was always aware of them! I am so thankful of the DNA testing that enabled me to find my DNA family. If anyone has anymore information, or knows of another child from John Edward Keenan, perhaps another child from a brief relationship.Thank you and may all your searches be as fruitful as mine has been!
