I am looking for the grave of Thomas William Neill.

He was born on December 25, 1836 (source: Passport application) and died on September 27, 1927. (source: Washington,DC birth and death records). He lived in Falls Church, VA with my mother's family prior to his death. He was a Union Army veteran and a lawyer in Philadelphia.  I am also looking for information about his daughter, Alice Kay Neill, listed as 9 years old on his passport application (1890).  Her baptism certificate states she was born on October 23, 1880.

Thanks.  This Alice K. Neill appears to be the same person, based on location and birthdate. Oddly, my family never knew that Thomas W. Neill was married or had children, even though he lived in his old age with my mother's family.  Still trying to find his grave.
I am still looking for his burial site as well. Do you think it is more likely that he was buried in Pennsylvania rather than Washington, DC?

Betty
I am pretty certain that he was buried either in Washington DC (only because of the document) or in Falls Church. However, the family graves in Falls Church do not include his. I know that he lived in Falls Church with my mother's family when she was a little girl, and she was born in 1919.  There are a number of photos, including some on this site.  It is such a mystery to me, since the only survivor from that family, my uncle Henry Neill Ware, was born after he died.  I did not know his death date until really recently, actually, when I happened upon the Washington DC Death and Burial doc.  With the exception of the baptism doc for Alice Kay, and the passport application for him, I cannot find a reference to his wife, but don't know her maiden name.  The passport application also lists a step-daughter, whose name is mostly illegible, but appears to be Louisa N. That is all I have!
You'd think that there would be an obituary somewhere. Looking for that now.

Betty
The other option is that he was given a military burial. Is there a military cemetery in D.C. that he would be buried in?

Looking for that now.

Betty
I recently came upon Thomas William Neill's Death Certificate. I uploaded a copy of it onto my tree. The search for a burial site is probably moot at this point.  The DC indicates that he was cremated (William Lees Crematory, Washington DC) on September 29, 1927.  My grandfather signed the document, and the undertaker was my grandparents' next door neighbor.  The DC shows his birthdate as 1834, while his passport application shows 1836. Not sure which one is correct, but at least we have death date correct.  Very disappointed about cremation, which to my knowledge is the only one in the early family, but glad to have the mystery of his grave solved.
Kathryn,

Sorry to hear about the cremation. Thanks for the update.

This birth record is off by one day.  It provides a book and page number, it might be worth it to try to get a copy and see if Fanny/Fancy's maiden name is listed.
