According to Wikitree, a man named John McDonald [McDonald-12439], who lived in Jefferson County, GA from about 1785-1840, had a wife named Mary. According to Mary's profile, she "was at least partial Cherokee" although there is nothing to support that claim. The McDonalds lived in Jefferson County, Georgia, over 200 miles from the Cherokee Nation. White men who married Cherokee women lived with their wives in the Cherokee Nation, not in white communities. There is no connection to the Cherokee McDonald family, which consisted of a Scots immigrant, John McDonald, his Cherokee wife Annie Shorey [Shorey-355], and their children Mary/Mollie and George. The dates and locations of the Cherokee family do not connect at all with the Jefferson County folks and their descendants are both famous and well-documented.
Mary's profile also says:
Mary "Polly" Allin/Allen... was born 3 February 1781 and died ca 1830-40 Jefferson County, GA. I'd bet she's buried same as John...Ogeechee River, Jefferson County, GA. Her father was James Allen/Allin 1756 - 1835.
His father, John Allen/Allin 1712 - 1778 and was born and died in Medfield, Massachusetts.
His father was James Allen/Allin 6 February 1679 - 3 September 1739. His will was probated 11 May 1739.
Which would be great, except all of these Allen/Allins lived in Medfield, Massachusetts.
So who was Mary? Who were her parents? Can anyone help?
