Can the descendant icons on the X chromosome DNA Ancestors View

Https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/ wikitree-ID /89#X

Please link to

Https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/ wikitree-ID /890#X

Instead of

Https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/ wikitree-ID /890 ?

For example at

https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Roberts-7085/89#X

Link the descendant icon next to Martha B. Denmark to

https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Denmark-218/890#X

Instead of https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Denmark-218/890

Doing so will be helpful because the mitochondrial descendant  view (shown first) is not relevant for that link from that page.

Thanks and sincerely, Peter

Great suggestion, Peter!

Not only is it inconvenient to be sent to the top of the page when the link could go directly to the relevant target section, but the numerous people who are confused about the difference between the X chromosome and mitochondrial DNA are likely to have that confusion reinforced when they are sent to the top of https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Denmark-218/890 instead of the X-chromosome section.

Edited: But it's more complicated than your request suggests. Currently the only "Descendants" link on pages like https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Moye-102/89#X is the "DNA Descendants" link at the top of the page. There's no "Descendants" link in the X-chromosome section of the page. I believe your suggestion calls for both (1) insertion of a Descendants link in the X-chromosome section of the page and (2) directing that link to the relevant section on the DNA Descendants page.

Hello Ellen,

Pages like https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Moye-102/89#X is an earliest known ancestor and so there are not any earlier known X chromosome ancestors (who would have descendants who could have inherited portions of their X chromosome).

Clicking on the DNA Descendants tab (to the right of the DNA Ancestors tab) Links to the DNA Descendants view with the mtDNA descendants and X chromosome descendants.

So should descendant links in the mitochondrial section link to mitochondrial, and y link to y as well? Or is this only something that should be done for the x dna section?
Hello Jamie,

Thank you for asking.  To the subtitles (X Chromosome, Y Chromosome, and Mitochondrial DNA) please add/repeat the name of whose DNA it is (e.g. “X Chromosome Descendants View for Jane Doe”).  Otherwise it is easy to overlook the name at the top of the page.

The links in the mitochondrial section should link to mitochondrial and Y chromosome should link to Y.

Thank you and sincerely, Peter
