Merge Loop and invisible merge proposal [closed]

+3 votes

Hi, could someone please help us with merging into ... It should be possible to execute but on proposing there is no evidence of a merge proposal (beneath either of the profiles) and we (after 12 hours) still get the following message: "The merge of Johannes Grootschel (Grootschel-2) and Johannes David Grooschel (Grootschel-1) is already in progress by another user. If it is not completed in five minutes, you can complete it."

WikiTree profile: Johannes David Grooschel
closed with the note: Thanks to Susan & others this issue has been solved.

sysops is the tag you need to add.  Only they can do this magic.
Thanks RJ!
Usually you have to reject the merge, then just propose it again and it will go through. It gets stuck sometime but they can't figure out what causes it.

I'm not sure if the issue cleared or someone fixed it but it did let me set up the merge and it shows on the page now.

I have had this done before and usually you have to set up an unmerged match first, then start the merge again.

Thanks Susan, much appreciated!

Though the merge is still in progress by another user … laugh

Try it again now. I think it may be okay now.

It set up two merges for it so then I did the unmerged match and set it up again.

Fingers crossed it should work.
Thanks Susan, I see that the pm merged it. Thanks for your help.

What I see is that no merge request has been made. I just tried to initiate a merge and it accepted the 2 profile inputs and let me go right to the input msg box. So if you are having a problem, I would try reloading your webpages.

We (the project leader and myself - research coordinator) have done this countless times already. Still to no avail.
