Robert Copeland born 1849, Ireland, joined Lancashire police 1879, By 1890 according to the birth certificate of son, James, he was an ex-policeman and by 1914 he was a clerk (as per wedding certificate of daughter Maud.)
Would like help as to why he left the police and in 1910 was a water bailiff inWales and in 1914 he was a clerk.
