Family of Mary (Rhodes) Pepper - Was her mother Mary Hirst?

I am moving this to G2G where it will hopefully get a wider audience.

Original question:

On 7 Feb 2020 Marnix Alexander de Paula Lopes wrote on Hirst-285:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hirst-285 L.S. I reside in The Netherlands and have British ancestors. One of which is a lady named Mary Rhodes, baptised 23-04-1727 Wentworth and burried 0606-1803 Wath upon Dearne, married 04-08-1745 Wath upon Dearne to John Pepper baptised 16-04-1720 Wath upon Dearne and burried 28-03-1783 Wath upon Dearne. I have as parents of Mary Rhodes: Robert Rhodes baptised 09-12-1703 Wentworth and Frances Guest, married 18-11-1722 Wentworth. On My Heritage I see that there is an entry by a lady named Angela Grey and that she has put the parents of Mary Rhodes as Robert Rhodes birth 1692] & Elisabeth Hirst [birth 1696] https://www.myheritage.nl/site-family-tree-177368421/angelas-family?familyTreeID=2 On that site the parents of Elisabeth Hirst are given as George Hirst [born 1661] & Judith Haigh [born 1666]. These are the people I found on your wiki tree. I am hoping you might be able to help me and see which are the right parents of Mary Rhodes.

My response:

I wouldn't necessarily trust this tree on My Heritage.  I don't see any sources listed, so there is no way to evaluate the information.  I see at least three different sets of parents for Mary (Rhodes) Pepper (b 1727 in Wentworth) in various trees on My Heritage and Ancestry.  Some of those trees show her father dying in 1807, so clearly they have issues!

I think the Robert Rhodes and Frances Guest you have as parents for Mary are plausible.  There is an image of a baptism entry for Mary, daughter of Robt. Roads baptized 23 Apr 1727 on familysearch.org You do need to scroll a couple of pages to see the correct entry.  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NFVC-Q9J

Family search also shows a marriage of Robert Rhodes to Frances Guest in the same parish on 18 Nov 1722, which seems to fit quite well for them to be the correct couple.  Unfortunately you need to be at a family history center to see this image.  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N24S-43T

Dear Paige, Thank you so much for your answer. I had done the research and have copies of the documents. I was only put off by the baptism of Mary because her father is written as Robert Roads instead of Rhodes. It would be nice to find the Guest link. I haven't been able to find her data.

I wouldn't worry about the Roads vs. Rhodes spelling.  The pronunciation is the same, and the spelling of names was much less standardized then than it is now.
