Can I make multiple trees? I would like to set one up for my wife's family.

My wife doesn't do much on the computer and I would like to make a tree for her, as well as my own. Is that possible, or do I have to convince her to set up a profile/join?

I even did one for my ex-wife, because her parents and ancestors are half of the family tree of my children.

Wikitree is just one big tree, with (hopefully) only one profile for each person.  You can add anyone to Wikitree that you have information for, but living people won’t be displayed. (The exception is minor children, you can only add your own and they will be private).   So yes, you can add a profile for your wife and her parents and other ancestors.  Most folks find that once you get back two or three generations you will find ancestors who already have profiles and will just need to connect to them.

Hi Ernst, WikiTree is one universal tree so just go ahead and add them. At some point they will connect up. Just add your wife as your spouse and build up.

Wikitree does not allow multiple trees. Wikitree is one big Global tree.

But you are certainly free to add your wifes profile and her ancestors, although please keep in mind that any living persons will have their profiles UNLISTED for privacy reasons. You will be able to see them since you created them, but noone else can see them - except the Admins.

The only reason why she would need access to Wikitree herself is when (or if) she chooses to upload the results of any DNA test she may choose to take.

My spouse also has no interest in doing Genealogy on wikitree, but he was perfectly fine with me adding his name and details and his siblings, parents and all his other ancestors and cousins.

He chooses to not do a DNA test, simply because he knows where he came from.

I did a DNA test to help my mother to finally discover her biological family. She had been fostered out as a baby and was later adopted.
