Comments on Nancy Ellen (Rush) Dickason Was she native American?

On NaN undefined NaN Carl Dickason II wrote on Rush-2333:

Family stories all agree that Nannie Rush was an american indian. Some said from Oklahoma. My Grandfather inferred that she was Arapaho. No evidence supports this, but I am still curious as to any stories or evidence others might have.

Not trying to be rude, but how would a woman who was born, to a white couple, lived, and died in Ohio have any connection to Indians in Oklahoma?  The remaining Ohio indians were forced west in the first quarter of the 19th century.  According to the 1880 census both of her father's parents were born in Germany, her mother's parents in Ohio.

The only way I can imagine it would be if he went to Oklahoma and "adopted"her. I note that her mother died 10 days after she was born according to evidence available to me.

She was born in Ohio, her mother was born in Ohio, both her mother's parents were born in Ohio. Her parents' marriage is documented, and her mother's death is documented.  Everyone in this family group is well documented and no one has a Native American connection.
