I have quite a large tree on ancestry - about 25,000 people.  I would like to split it and download the bottom portion.  Some portions from 1100s to 700s may be useful to folks working on Middle Ages as they are are based on FMG and include all siblings.  I'm really new on Wikitree and would love to have someone hold my hand!!!!!!

Hi Susan,

One important thing to note is that WikiTree has requirements for pre-1700 profiles. In order to add pre-1700 profiles, you would need to coordinate with a pre-1700 project, have at least 50 contributions, and then self-certify for the badge. Since you have just joined, you would need to participate more in order to qualify for self-certification.

The restrictions increase dramatically when we start talking about pre-1500 profiles. As part of the certification process you will be asked to identify a pre-1700 or Project Protected Profile where you have made significant contributions as a practical demonstration of your knowledge of sources and WikiTree style. You will also be asked to provide information on your Pre-1700 project participation and the name of a Project Leader who can confirm your participation as an advanced wiki genealogist.

I'm really new on Wikitree and would love to have someone hold my hand!

If you would like some help, some of the best places to start are:

  1. By joining a Project; or
  2. By Contacting a Mentor
