Anybody else using Amazon Rekognition to identify faces in old photos?

The AWS Rekognition software allows you to compare a photo of a person to another photo that person might be in. I tested with several old family photos and I got between 90 and 99 percent matches that were correct so I started comparing more photos where I wasn't sure and the software was able to identify several unknown persons that I couldn't tell by my eyes alone. It might prove more useful if we can get more people trying it out.

Does it have any ability to compare photos across a larger data base?  Or just your own?  For instance, if I have a photo from my grandmother's collection that she didn't label, must I input all my photos that could conceivably include that person in the hope of getting a match?

Is this just the Amazon online photo storage you are talking about?  I have used Google, Apple and Adobe Lightroom to do the same thing. It is pretty helpful once you get it set up. Currently they only compare against your own photos as far as I know.

AWS provides an API so that it can become pretty much whatever you want it to be, The testing area compares only 2 photos which is ok by me. I don't keep all my photos in the cloud and I don't really want all my photos scanned with results and stored by FB, Google, Apple and Adobe. I only upload old photos that I can't be sure of identity. Others may want to use it differently.
