How to grant read-only access to profiles? [closed]

How do I grant a WikiTree user read-only access to a profile that I manage? Adding them to the profile's Trusted List gives them update ability, and I want to prevent that. (If not possible, seems like a deficiency that should be addressed.)

Depends on how 'old' the profile is.

If the person was born over 150 years ago or died over 100 years ago, it has to be Open. (WikiTree rules)

If they were born under 150 years ago or died under 100 years ago, you can adjust the person's Privacy level to suit.  At the top right hand is a lock-in-a-circle.  Click on it to see all the different sorts of Private you can adjust it to.  You have set your own to bright yellow, so you are familiar with this.  You can do this with each profile you manage.

I think what Ros is getting at is what you're asking is not possible on an individual basis.

If you want someone to be able to Edit a profile, you add them to the trusted list and they're then trusted to do most things. If you want them to co-manage or take over management of a profile, you can make them a manager and then they can do all things.

But if you want just one person to be able to read a profile, it is not possible. The profile can be set (as Ros explains) to allow all users to be able to read the profile by adjusting the privacy, but you can't let just one person have read-only access.
Or how "new" the profiled individual is. If the individual is living, you cannot make his/her information visible to anyone not on the trusted list.
Actually, my profile was merged, and the co-manager apparently set this priority, not me, so I am not familiar with the process. (I've since removed him as a manager.) So, which is the default privacy level for an active member's own profile? I don't understand all these privacy levels.
Thank you, Scott, for responding to the actual question.
There isn't a 'default privacy level' for an active member's own profile.  You pick the level you want (except for Public or Open).

Yours is bright yellow.  So is mine. Others might want red (entirely private).  It's up to you.  Experiment with what you are comfortable with people seeing.
Thank you, Ros. And with that, I am done with this topic. Thanx to all who participated.
Then you might like to close your question, so you do not get more answers (but there may be comments).

Where your question is, there are small text links bottom right, one of which is 'close'. Put a reason in the box as to why you are closing it.
