This one site says Hezekiah James died in Alabama Individual Page which is a page about Elizabeth (Williams) Bentley

The page for Hezekiah James Individual Page indicates he married Melissa Catherine Whorton (10 children born 1846 through 1866+) so he was alive past 1865.

familysearch.org yields Citing this Record

Hi Van,

Wanted to add to Susan's answer that there were two Hezekiahs b. 1822-1824 in GA: both had wifes named Malissa, lived in Cleburn and had similarly named children. For this Hezekiah, the post-1860s censuses for Township 15 Range 12, Cleburne, Alabama, are the correct ones (Twp 15 R 10 belong to the other guy).

1859 AL Land Patent Twp 15 R 12 and 1884 AL Land Patent Twp 15 R 12

Hezekiah's sister Patsy married a Wallis. His wife's LNAB : Whorton, sometimes written as Horton. These families all lived near one another - that can help identify correct census data also.

Here are some earlier censuses for him:

1850 census H Bently (incorrect transcription says bp La - Louisiana/should be Ga-Georgia)

1860 census Hesaciah Bently (incorrect transcription of youngest child "Joam" -s/be Isam or Isham)

1866 AL State Census I think this one belongs to him - cross-check nearby relatives to be certain.

Cheers.
