Y-DNA confirmation [closed]

Hello everyone!

I want to make sure that I fully understand the process of Y-DNA confirmation. According to the Stewart (Royal) project on FTDNA, I am a direct descendant of James, 5th High Steward. I'm still stuck at my 3rd ggf, Stewart-36996, so will the connection not show up until I make the link or should it already show?

Hi Randee, Welcome to WikiTree.

I'm sorry to break the news to you but, without your YDNA line connected to James Stewart, it won't show until you do connect. Who is your other YDNA match ? We need to go through your confirmations and put them on every profile in your tree marked with a tick. And who are your autosomal trianglations ?

David, thank you so much for clarifying what I thought. My Autosomal DNA test, along with 20 other paternal relatives have not helped break through so I went ahead and tested my Y-DNA just because I want to figure out where our 3rd ggf came from. I still can't get a 100% verification. I've finally been running into some distant Stewart matches that are in the correct family but I can't get anything to line up perfectly.

I'm not familiar with ticking, so, if you wouldn't mind enlightening me,I would greatly appreciate it AND learn something new.
