My cousin and I worked together on my Dad's genealogy and used a .paf file. When I moved to Window 7, I could no longer open the file.

Try converting to it the GEDCOM format first.

I haven't done it in a whille but I believe you can do it with Ancestral Quest software for free:

Here is a web site that claims to list available programs that will open many different file types.  I haven't used it personally and can't really vouch for its performance, but it might be worth a look:    http://file.org/extension/paf

Hi Becky,

Is it a Family Search PAF file? If it is you could download the Legacy software from http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/ , then load the PAF file & save it as a GEDCOM file.

You could also use this software Personal Ancestral File from http://personal-ancestral-file.software.informer.com/5.2/

All the best
