Nelson Miramichi (NB, Canada) Mckenzies/Mackenzies: Looking for further information.

Question

Looking for further information on family for John McKenzie b. abt. 1811 unknown and wife Jane Crawford, b. abt 1820 unknown. John would be my 3rd Great Grandfather. Family sources tell me that they lived in Nelson Miramichi, Northumberland County, NB Canada. Is there a connectin to a WIlliam Mckenzie of Nelson who also had a son John? I believe there is a family connection to the Appleby's of Nelson through son, James S. to Jane Thompson/ Thomson do. James Thomson and Mary Jane Appleby.
Also, searching for Allan Mackenzie of Tide Head NB, so. Lyman Thompson Mackenzie/Mckenzie b.1885 and Georgina May Duff. The name spelling of Mckenzie in most cases varies dependant on the document.

Thank you for your work. I have come to the conclusion that I should be looking for a William, not a John in connection to Jane Crawford. I have the family tree linked to Lyman Mckenzie's line already and beside Verna there is Allie Mackenzie who I believe is still alive. I have come across numerous family going up the line from there and have gotten info on land grants and such as well :)... It is always a happy day when I can ad someone to the tree!!!

Does anyone know how to transfer my ancestry.ca  to the wiki format?

Somewhere in Ancestry, you can download your tree as a GEDCOM file. That file can then be uploaded to WikiTree to get you started.

Personally, I have not tried this. When I switched from Ancestry to WikiTree, I created new profiles so I could make sure I controlled the information I was providing and not relying on the numerous dubious sources I ended up having in my Ancestry tree. Of course, that might not be practical if you already have a large tree so the GEDCOM method might be best for you.

Well either there is an issue with Ancestry or my pc ads it will  not allow me to load the file so it looks as though I am going to be loading those 274 names sometime in the near future...lol! Thanks for the quick reply.

That's quite a bit of work! Perhaps someone with more experience with uploading a GEDCOM file can chime in.

Also, you should request to join the trusted list of the profiles I created so you can expand on them.

If you browse one of the profiles, you can click the "request to join the trusted list" link, which will send me the info I need to add you the list. You'll probably need to be logged into your profile to do so.
