Does anyone have information on the Powell family that settled in Adair County, MO in the early 1800’s?

My GGF was David Powell. He was briefly married to Thursa Bozarth and had one son, Sylvester Bertram Powell (my GGF).  I have not been able to find who David Powell is and what happened to him. They lived around Joplin, Adair, Ringos  Point, MO. This is the info I need in order to trace my family all the way back so I would LOVE some help!  Thank you
