This is a photo taken in Hill City, Kansas in the winter of 1946-47 of my uncle Scott Marvin Jr. In this photo, he has recently gotten married, and his wife, Marietta, took this photo of him with their cat on his shoulder.
Susan, maybe from a favorite poem by Edward Lear, "You elegant fowl! How charmingly sweet you sing!
My Grandfather, Harold "Hal" Knott Rammel, loved animals.
He was the editor of the Escanaba Daily Press in the 1920s in Michigan. When the circus came to town he had to go join in on the fun.
Here is a picture of my 5 year old mother, Patsy, with one of the family dogs. Other than as pets, animals have not featured in most of my genealogy. However, all of my family have loved animals both inside and outside the house.
Here is my aunt Winnie with the family pet cat smut. Taken in Norwich, England about 1938
This photograph has mystified me for years. It is my great grandfather Charles Gwinn (right) and his son-in-law Leo Bradley, probably around 1915 or so. Charles was a contractor who built schoolhouses and other public buildings; Leo was a stationary engineer with the Champaign, Illinois, public schools. Sober, serious men . . . with a donkey? Or perhaps a pony. Anyway, why was this picture taken?
My mom's dad was a lifelong animal lover, rescuing all sorts of animals from hurricanes. While he was primarily a dog person, he had a fondness for birds as well. Growing up, he had a parrot named Polly (not very original); unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of him with Polly, but this picture was taken with one of the family chickens in the late 20s/early 30s.
My mom’s favorite dog, Teddy. Sorry about the quality, but I did not take the photo. I have heard a lot about Teddy and how he was my mom’s and her brother’s favorite dog. This was taken in the mid 1950s.
Missy
This is my maternal grandmother and her sister. Apparently the goat/pony and cart was a routine photography set up that traveled from house to house taking photos for money.
Wow! This is so like the photo of my mom taken in 1923. Check it out.
This donkey was owned by my grandfather G.W. Hampel and this brother Henry Hampel while they still lived at home.
My great-grandmother with Rebel the dog in about 1910, in Plumstead, Kent.
Johnny Raymer Johnny Raymer with "Heinrich", winning the 1931 Austrian Derby in a record time of 1:24,7 over 3300 metres. It was also a new European Record which stood for 40 years.
Don't know yet who the little girl is, but the dog looks more like a werewolf. I'm sure he had a lot of personality though ;)
My brother-in-law around 1938 or 39. The picture was torn and I cloned in the brick background, and added our dog.
My Great-grandfather and Great grandmother(taking the photo) hitch hiking to the family ranch with their puppy.
I can't remember where this photo was taken, although it was somewhere in England. My sister Felicity is the one with the parrot, brother Adrian centre, and me on the left, in about 1964. My sister remembers that the parrot was heavy!
My father, Ray Christopher, age 16, and a bull he raised on the family farm near Loveland, Colorado.
.
This is my grandfather and his dog. I like the farm clothes and relaxed look, not the typical formal picture.
My mom's side (including my grandfather) were all good with horses, and I have a ton of horse pictures as well. But this is one of my favorites.

52 Photos Week 9: Animals
For this week, I am showing Dominika Bydalek and her sister with their farm animals. They are supposed to be feeding them, but I think they stopped to pose for a picture. There is a little debate about the spelling on Dominika's name - some paperwork has it the way I spelled it, and it is sometimes spelled Dominica. I have to dig further to see which way is correct.
While the my grandmother looks handsome in her muskrat coat, I'm glad these once-popular fashion statements have gone out of fashion! https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Gardner-4659-9
