New Occupations Category Suggestions

Maybe I'm just blind, but I cannot find any United States occupation for men (now women!) who serve as a state senator or state representative. If there is such a category, please provide a link.

I propose that two new occupation categories be added:

  1. State Representative (with a list of states as subcategories)
  2. State Senator (with a list of states as subcategories)

Similar - but for the state legislatures not the federal.
If you go to the state, it usually has something like xxx, Politicians, and under that, State Senators.

Take Alabama.  It has Alabama, Politicians, and under it Alabama, State Senators. (And also US Representatives from Alabama.)
Thanks, Ros! No wonder I couldn't find what I wanted. I was looking for legislature not politician. Wish there was any easy way to search for categories.

We were talking about adding "State Government" categories for all states, which would include their governors and state legislatures. It makes more sense to put them there and not under "politicians" because "politician" is an occupation but the positions of legislators are not really occupations. Does that make sense? I did this for Indiana's government yesterday. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Indiana%2C_State_Government

There is already this: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:US_State_Legislatures

Yes, Natalie. To me it would make more sense to have a category listing for State Government than Politician. After all, I was looking for something with state in the name. lol

I admit I often get lost trying to find what I need in the categories as many are not intuitive to me.

https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm WikiTree+ is an invaluable tool for that, especially "search" . You can enter search words for categories, such as indiana senate or new jersey governors. (whatever you are looking for), then click "Find Categories" and your search will appear on the right.

Thanks for the link, Natalie. I completely forgot about that page. I've now bookmarked it under my WikiTree browser folder, so I can easily find it again!

Even after 8 months, I still seem to learn something new on WikiTree every time I add a new profile!
