Advice about editing this pre-1700 Batten profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of John Batten Jr. that conflicts with the spouse link in the profile to [[Barton-983|Mary (Barton) Batten]] because she was born in 1773. She already has a spouse link to a John Batten who was born in 1724 and with whom she had children.

This is what I can add:

  • "John, son of John Batten" was buried on 8 May 1690 in Bradford on Avon.

These are the sources I am using:

  • Parish Register, Church of England, Bradford on Avon. Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre; Chippenham, Wiltshire, England; Reference Number: 883/2.
  • This profile was created by a GEDcom and came to my attention because the death date was unreadable. The unreadable date was 1690 in the first place.

Normally, I would simply remove the unsourced marriage from the profile.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

I would suggest Mary has big problems as she supposedly had her youngest child Ann at the age of 56, by my calculations.

I suspect there are enough Mary Battens for all the John Battens out there. I looked for one to go with the John who died in 1690, but I  didn’t find her. Maybe I can find one who is young enough to mother this one’s children? ;)
