What is your question, exactly?  What Bible do you have?  How is Thomas Holt mentioned?
I have a number of large files of the Hoult / Holt names. But it would help to know a few things. Any dates location even general ? Without this information there is little to go on. Have you put the tree on Wikitree ? ids ? ancestry id ? of any near relative.
.

Label in Bible “ Henry and Mary Hoult”, no other info contained. It is v. large family Bible dated 1790 and would have been expensive but in poor condition now. Going back up my Porritt family line through Hoult line I come to Henry b.1751 m. Mary, he d.1840 and she 1828, both at Willington.I am intrigued to know when/ why this expensive Bible bought.was it after first born, Mary in1787 or first son, William in 1793 or much later for another reason.

Large 1790 Bible in poor condition. Thomas not mentioned, but I have family tree. Only personal info in Bible is small printed label “Henry and Mary Hoult” . Bible would have been expensive to buy and I would like to know more about reason —-it is not marriage but may be birth of firstborn, girl, or first son, or———-.

It looks like you have identified Henry's children, but no further descendants.  It's hard to imagine how you could determine the actual reason someone bought something so long ago, unless you found some living descendant who happened to know.

In general, the only thing I can think of is to perhaps consult a used book dealer, or find some social history that includes a discussion of Bible-buying.

Thanks for your comments, very helpful, I have the descendants but I know it is going to be difficult/ maybe impossible to find reason for Bible purchase. Thanks again

It might be a gift from a godparent /sponsor or purchased just because they loved the Word of God.  Don't we all have mixed reasons for why we do anything?

I agree there could be many reasons and thanks for the godparent/ sponsor thought.

The information I have on this family is already on Wikitree.

There are already some good suggestions about the bible in these answers.

Have you tried taking photos of the bible the covers, inside leaves of any note etc  and doing an image search on Google for each photo. A printers details should be somewhere I would Google search these.

The family were in Wallsend in 1793 but come from the Chester le Street and Morpeth opposite sides of the Tyne by some distance..I guess they may have met in Wallsend./ Newcastle in the middle.  . Did they move to a new church in Wallsend in 1790? Would it be worth checking out the Wallsend churches, The records so far don't name the church only Wallsend.

The possibilities are unfortunately endless. But will probably be fun researching.

Thanks, very interesting info on places and dates and although not living in that area nowI know it well. Good ground for search through local churches.

The Bible is 1790, printed by M. Brown, Flesh Market, Newcastle but in poor condition and only personal info is small printed label “ Henry and Mary Hoult” inside front cover. It must have been an expensive Bible when new.

Thanks again.

If you google his name and address you'll find  several examples of other family bibles ( prints and other works) On some of them he used the format : PRINTED BY M BROWN AT THE BIBLE, IN THE FLESH-MARKET  which suggests that Bible printing was a speciality.

The British Museum has a record but only of his address and dates https://research.britishmuseum.org/research/search_the_collection_database/term_details.aspx?bioId=174041
