Not a question-- Just observation Family Search sourcing Issue

Lately I have been visiting profiles connected to families I adopted, for instance Tinkham and others..entries for Family Search used for sources, but the entries go to absolutely no sources. There are many that are only someone's tree they have listed but they are not sourced in any way what so ever. So the adoption of a few ended up being many profiles to source with actual sources...busy busy.

Just wanted others to know that the sources are not always there when you look upon someone's profile.

Happy Researching,

Lori--put correct person on listing

The profile you listed doesn't have any Family Search sources, so I am confused.
No I had to correct it, the families around this one, sorry about that...instance Lucy Grinnell

Sometimes the links do not copy for some reason but if you go to that person in Family Search you can see the sources or just do the roots search and recopy the citations. It is extra work but at least if the sources are in family search you know it is not just a speculative relationship.

Thanks Lori for adopting some profiles and for persevering when you realised they didn't have any sources.

I understand why use of FamilySearch is encouraged on WikiTree but I agree with your comment that you have to check the information. The family trees can be unsourced and even when they have sources, they may only be to other online genealogies.

I'm also wary of some of their databases when they don't actually link through to a scanned document. If it is only a transcription, it's worth checking where that information may have originated, some times it comes from information submitted as genealogies.

Thank you, I just want all to be aware, they may think it is sourced when they actually aren't...save some time and not bypass when we should help each other out in this area when we have time.

Happy researching,

Lori

Family Search was warning info off family tree;s and unsourced

details use with caution.I seldom use it,maybe they took down the warning.
