Notables March 2020

Hear Ye, Hear Ye

If you are interested in people who are famous, notable, noted, significant, important, historic, heroic, or otherwise fascinating, then the Notables Project might be for you!

The idea behind this post is for anyone who needs help with connecting Notables to the tree to post to this thread and ask for help, or if you want to tell us whom you have successfully connected up, or if you want to join the Notables Project and get a badge.

Besides checking out the Notables Project page, don't forget to take a look at the Notables List page, where you can find lists of Notables who have profiles which aren't yet connected to the main tree. (For ideas on way to connect unconnected people and branches, see the Hints and Tips on the Connectors Chat page.)

Please remember to concentrate on those Notables who have already passed (died), so that we can see their profiles. If you create a profile for a living Notable, that profile WILL GO UNLISTED and no one can see it except for the PM and anyone on the trusted list!

And remember - Notables should have a Wikipedia page at the very least to qualify. And they should be DEAD! If you manage a profile for any living notable, would you please replace any Notables categories on that profile with [[Category:Living Notables]]? That could clear out a lot of profiles that people can't work on from the various Notables categories, and also keep all the living notables in one place to make them easy to find, should the need arise.

Sorry scott!!
No worries Robynne! We'll give it another shot next month! :)

I'd love to join the Project.

I've done quite a bit of work on the Notables profiles in and outside of my tree already and I might as well make it official.

Please could you do whatever's necessary?

Cheers and keep safe,

My apologies, Aidan! I saw this earlier and it just slipped my mind.

Welcome to the Team!

Antonio Coppola (21 Mar 1917 d: 9 Mar 2020) died earlier this month just a couple weeks before his 103rd birthday. He was a renowned American opera conductor and composer. He was also the uncle of film director Francis Ford Coppola and actress Talia Shire. And the grand-uncle of actor Nicolas Cage.

I kicked out the "living Notables" Category and added the Centenarians one instead.

After finishing with Jacques Haussmann (better known as John Houseman, the actor from The Paper Chase), I started work on Film Editor, Margaret Booth.

I was able to find a connection fairly quickly, as her brother was the actor Elmer Booth, who was married to Irene Outtrim, who already had a connected profile on the Tree. The links should update tonight.

Tony Award winning playwright Terrence McNally got coronavirus and died yesterday 24 Mar 2020 @81.

A G2G message was recently posted but we can't see it, because it is hidden (don't know why) ...

I can only guess, as there were 3 posts (4 counting this one) that mentioned him. 2 were specifically on him (they might have hidden the duplicate), this one, and one on Notable coronavirus deaths as a whole (which I believe either mentioned him or inferred his recent passing).

Working on Woody Woodpecker creator, Walter Lantz.

I don't have him connected to the global tree yet, but I'm still forming his tree and adding family, so hopefully a connection will emerge soon.

Well, big thank you to those working the Italian records! I was actually able to connect him through his mother's Italian lines. I thought I might also be able to connect him to his father's line in Italy too, as there are many with that last name and location, but none that I could match up. If someone wants to take a run at it, please feel free.

I know the profiles need work but according to the older family trees Sir George Puttenham should be a decendant of Sir Roger de Puttenham.  There are two profiles for Sir Roger de Puttenham. One needs to be fixed

Scott, can you please check this closed profile ...

and open it, if it belongs to Alan Merrill who just died from coronavirus. He was the musician who wrote & originally sang "I Love Rock 'N' Roll".

Unfortunately only the PM has access to that profile, so I can't tell one way or the other.
If anyone wants to try connecting him to the global wikitree, I have added some links to relatives in the comment section of his profile.
I've sent a note to the PM as there's a good chance this could be the Notable. I'll let you know if I get a response.

Scott, shouldn't the April 2020 Notables post be available by now April 04 ?

There has been another tragedy in the extended Kennedy family.

Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean @40 and her son, Gideon Joseph Kennedy McKean @8, went missing on the afternoon of Thursday 02 April 2020  after they got into a canoe together to get a ball that was kicked into the water. The family were at Townsend's home in Shady Side, Maryland. The Coast Guard has now called off the search, as presumed dead.

Maeve is the daughter of former Maryland Lt.Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend who was a daughter of Robert F. Kennedy ...

Scott, if they have wikitree profiles their names would be hidden, so can you please check and let us know the result ?  Thanks

Sorry about that - it's been an "interesting" month with all the restrictions as well as starting a new job, so my mind is elsewhere. Thanks for the reminder. The new monthly post is now up and running.

I'll take a look for those profiles now and see if I have any access.

Kathleen Kennedy has a profile already:

It's set to "Private" and I've notified the PM that it's likely they'll pronounce her dead very soon. Notables is not currently on the trusted list, but I've asked to be added. I can't tell if there is a profile for her son, so we'll have to wait for further information.

Found someone already created a profile for Maeve (Townsend) McKean at ...
