Robert W. Thompson. Looking for birth place and his parents names and birth place. I am looking for the parents of my 3rd great grandfather Robert W. Thompson/Thomson. Family lore says he came from North Carolina and his last name was sometimes spelled Thomson. His will does not name his parents. The executor of his will was Nathan Harris who married one of his daughters. The Harris family came from NC along with others (Moon, Hinshaw, Chamness) who settled in the same area as Robert. He was in his early 40s when he married his wife Nancy Bowen who was in her twenties. Her family is well documented in the Wayne and Randolph County Indiana history , however little is said about her and Robert.
