Who will join me in new User Group: Puritan Great Migration [closed]

I would like to form/be part of a user group working on early New England settlers who came after the Mayflower. I think the existing Mayflower group is a good group to have and to be focused on Mayflower passengers and their descendants.

A completely separate group of early colonists were those Puritans (as distinct from the separatist Pilgrims of the Mayflower) who started arriving after the Mayflower and form the 20-40k settlers who arrived in New England mostly be 1630 and 1650.

Anyone want to join me? We would focus on merging duplicate profile pages, and cleaning up narratives for these people. (Some of us are already doing that on an ad hoc, semi-organized basis.)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jillian,  I must have missed your original post on the Puritan Great Migration Project.  You can count me in.  I have several In my genealogy.  Some I have not posted as I cannot establish a possitive connection. I hesitate to add them because others may not read the disclaimer in the bio and take the information as fact.  We all know how misinformation spreads like wildfire.
Consider yourself badged!
Hi Jillaine! I am working on Gov. John Winthrop and his immediate Family. I was wondering if I could get his sons profile locked, as I have found the lowest numbered one and started all the merges. The profile is - Winthrop-14 Thanks!
Robin,

Done.
The profile that is currently set as the PPP for John Winthrop Sr. (Winthrop-26) is not the lowest numbered profile. Rather, Winthrop-21 should be the PPP, and Winthrop-26 should be merged into it. I started the merge.
Fixed and merged 26 into 21, then locked 21.
count me is too Jillian.  I have Puritans running all over my tree, like monkeys I tell you!

Hello Jillaine, way to go. Couple of notes, suggestions.

You need 2 categories:

Puritan Great Migration

Puritan Great Migration User Group

One for your user group a subcategory of User Groups.

and one for Puritan Great Migration a subcategory of Immigration for our ancestors.

Let me know if you need assistance.

I was hoping to avoid having multiple categories. Do we really need to do that?
Its easy to fix, and should be done. User group members would add themselves to the user group by adding "Category:Puritan Great Migration User Group" to their profile.  Our ancestors would be added to "Category:Puritan Great Migration"

If you wish let me know I can do this in a few minutes. Waiting your descision.
could you please, Michael? I've come down with a horrendous head cold. thanks.
Will do, on its way.
Done, you may wish to edit.
SWEET!! Nice work, Michael. Thank you.

Why thank you. smiley Entering ships and passengers for categories, or at least a good start.  Get well soon.

I think I too would have a headache researching SMITHcheeky

I have joined the group and hope to participate

Sorry, I must be dense.  I tried to add the category, but it doesn't show up.  Where and how do I add it?  Thanks, Vic

Jillaine is referring to WikiTree user groups. See http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:User_Groups
Yes - I fear the group I suggested has paper pages, not online profiles.  That's why I'm a rookie!

Jillaine,

I have an interest in the Puritan Migration and would be very interested in being part of this group.  Most of my ancestors from the migration ended up in the Connecticutt River Valley.

Let me know more about the group

Would love to join such a group.  I have several ancestors from Rev T J Hooker's congregation and the founding of Hartford and other second boat ancestors from Mass.

Okay, I've created http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Puritan_Great_Migration

If you're interested in joining, please add your name to the member list on that page and include what specifically you'd like to focus on/how you'd like to contribute your energies. Thanks!

I'm extremely tired, and apparently dense. Where do I add my name to the member list, please? Thanks!
Add [[Category:Puritan_Great_Migration_Project]] to your Profile page.
Oh, duh...thank you!

I would be interested in this group. One of my earliest paternal ancestors came on the Ann in 1623 to Plymouth but need to sort which one it was. Other early immigrants were Hoskins (1633), Winthrop, Caswell, Richmond, Godfrey (bef.1651), Rounseville (1696), most settled in Taunton, Bristol Co., Mass.

This would be a good group to list ship lists if they are available. I am new to Wiki Tree and am still learning. Not sure if you add me to the group or I edit myself in.

Regards

The folks over at werelate.org have done a great job of organizing the ships. Might make more sense to link to their ships info rather than recreate the wheel.

For example, see:

I am confused now, but if the user group is different than the PGM Project, please include me. I am already in the PGM Project.

This question is from November. It just got bumped up when Homer answered it.

Back then, projects were called user groups.

I have been doing PGM merging/bio editing, and added

[[Category:Puritan Great Migration User Group]] to my category listing. Anything else I am supposed to do to be part of the user group?
Category:Puritan Great Migration User Group is no longer used. If you want, you can put yourself in Category:Puritan Great Migration Project, but this is no longer necessary since we have the badges that provide a list of project members.

Jillaine.  Instructions on how to join your group(s) ar a little vague.  I can find the notes on adding the category for the Great Migration Project to my profile and/my ancetos, but I can't find any references on how to add my name/profile to the member list of the project itself.
