Raymond Neufeld

The Neufeld name appeared for the first time in the Danzig Mennonite church records in 1694. The name was attributed originally to land reclaimed from the sea. The name was very common among the Mennonite congregations of Danzig & Prussia from where it spread to the United States, Canada & South America. Early Neufeld immigrants from Russia settled in central Kansas beginning in 1874.

I have information on my Mennonite ancestors (my maternal grandmother's side) in Prussia and immigrating to Manitoba, Canada. I can't trace them through the period in Holland in the 1400's - 1600's and before that in Germany.

Mennonites were extensive in my tree. Three of them were Mennonite ministers. I would love to work with anyone who has delved into these people groups, especially in the mid-west.
