My maternal line is Oxford. We descend from Wendy Oxford a Captain in the Royal Army of English King Charles I. Wendy was persecute by Parliament when Cromwell became Prime Minister. He was placed in stocks. Fearing that harm would come to his 13 year old son John, Wendy indentured John on a VA tobacco plantation. John's grandson Samuel, Jr. migrated along with his father to NC where he served as a Revolutionary War. [edit]
