I am a member of the Jamestowne Society by descent from Abraham Iverson I (and A. Iverson II). WikiTree shows that I am a lineal descendant of Jamestowne Qualifying Ancestor Edward Bennett, but the Society's registrar/genealogist, Dr Lyndon Hart, has ruled that uncertain on the grounds that there is no convincing evidence that Sylvestra Bennett had children by Col. Nicholas Hill. I am a native Southerner, and I am just interested in the Southern Colonies Project.

I’m the Southern who deems it necessary to capitalize “South/Southern” in writing, so that’s one reason this tag interests me. Yet, by all indications, my familial lineages, both paternal & maternal were present before and during the Southern colonial period. I hope that in adding this tag, I may add newfound information to my evolving knowledge of my own family history. In addition, I hope that my own expansive, personal knowledge of the South and its history may be of use to others. I am Pre-1
